About Calculate Loan
Calculate Loan is a free set of loan and finance calculators: the monthly payment on a loan, the amortization schedule, the true APR once fees are counted, how much an extra payment saves, mortgage payments with tax and insurance, car loans with a trade-in, student loan interest and simple budget ratios. Each page takes the numbers you type, applies one standard formula and shows the answer together with the formula, the assumptions behind it and a worked example you can repeat by hand.
The eight sections
Every calculator sits in one of eight sections: loan payments, amortization and balances, interest and APR, payoff and refinance, mortgage and home equity, auto loans, student loans, and personal loans, debt and budget. Every page is also listed in the A to Z index, the amortization schedule prints any loan payment by payment, and the glossary explains the terms.
What a calculator page holds
- The calculator itself, opened on a realistic example, with the answer updating as you type.
- The formula in words and symbols, with every variable defined.
- The assumptions: fixed rate, how interest compounds, and what is and is not included (fees, taxes, insurance).
- A worked example that uses the example numbers step by step.
- The exact lines the calculator runs, in a “Formula used” box.
What is not here
The site does arithmetic, not advice. It does not recommend taking, refusing or choosing a loan, does not quote or predict interest rates, does not rank or promote lenders, and does not model the rules of government programs, credit scoring or tax. Where a result depends on a figure only your lender can give you, such as your rate or fees, the calculator asks you to enter it. Read the formulas and assumptions.
